Raisin deposits are from European banks guaranteed by the Deposit Guarantee Fund of their country of origin (EU), which covers up to €100,000 per account holder and institution, just like in Spain.
What has changed since February?
The macroeconomic context in March 2026 remains influenced by ECB policy. Following the rate cuts in the second half of 2025, the average yield on interest-bearing accounts has fallen slightly from the 2024 highs. However, it is still possible to exceed 2% APR with non-term products and 2.5% with 1- to 2-year deposits.
- The best interest-bearing accounts for residents in Spain remain Ibercaja and Bankinter, though with welcome offers.
- For term deposits, Klarna Bank via Raisin leads with 2.56% over 2 years.
- Bigbank maintains its position with the best 12-month deposit with no minimum balance (2.50%).
How do you choose between an interest-bearing account and a term deposit?
The decision depends on your time horizon and liquidity needs:
- Interest-bearing account: money available at any time, slightly lower returns. Ideal for an emergency fund or short-term savings.
- Term deposit: higher returns in exchange for locking up your capital. Ideal for savings you won’t need for 6–24 months.
